Summary: Senator G.F. Pearce inspecting the guard of honour at the official opening of the Henderson Naval Base. The base was intended as a British fleet base in the Southern Hemisphere, but works were interrupted by World War One, and were abandoned in the early 1920s. A fleet base was built at Singapore instead.
